Recently, when I was doing an article for iDiva.com on books that were getting made into movies I stumbled on an interesting plotline. The Leisure Seeker was the story of a couple in their eighties – one has Alzheimer’s and the other has been diagnosed with cancer – who venture out on one last journey together in an old RV that they’ve lovingly call “The Leisure Seeker”.
The Fault In Our Stars for adults, eh?! I must tell you that I am a total sucker for Young Adult. Give me a YA book, however crappy, and I’ll read it until the end. So in that sense, this is Disneyland for me.
Here’s the trailer to give you an idea of what I am talking about.
The book, written by American novelist Michael Zadoorian was published in 2009. His story about John and Ella was critically well-received and was long-listed for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
For some strange reasons I did not get this book on the Amazon India website so I am planning to order either the Kindle version or accept the long shipping period. Or maybe look for it on some other website; I do tend to trust Amazon a bit too much. Is there any other website that you love for books (free shipping to India please)? Let me know.
Anyhoo, this is the first book that I am excited to read in 2018. Have you read it too? Comment, don’t be a stranger.
PS: As part of my ‘Must Do” list in 2018, I intend to Blog regularly. I don’t really have much time to write but I’ve decided to put something interesting out on a daily basis anyway. So excuse the short article; I do love words and you can expect a FAB review.
